Spectacular ocean views make this San Diego vacation residence a memorable getaway destination, but the home's lifeless and outdated design did little to inspire the owners. The home's original low profile powder room had a monochromatic color scheme that blended into the hallway. The clients decided to transform the powder room as the first custom designed space in their home while they planned a whole home remodel.

The fun and eclectic personalities of the homeowners were not reflected in the powder room's bland color scheme, traditional fixtures and outdated materials. Our design team transformed the powder room with a wall tiled top to bottom with an undulating mosaic, a bold single door cabinet with modern hardware, and shelves for displaying the clients' collection of abstract artwork. The new powder room's only reference to its past is the location of the plumbing fixtures and vanity. Striking blue walls, rich walnut engineered-wood flooring, and glowing orange glass tile inserts complete an artistic and memorable impression. Visitors now take time to appreciate the intricate design details of this truly unique space. The new powder room is a playful and vibrant combination of textures, colors, and shapes. The clients consider this room a work of art in itself!

A vibrant burnt orange vessel sink is a stand alone piece of art on the subtle backdrop of quartz countertop. Unusual blue walls enhance the metallic tones in the modern chrome fixtures and flowing mirror. The near black tones of the cabinetry and shelving add sophistication to the space and help ease the challenge accessorizing.

The color palette was chosen to add life to the home and to complement the client's collection of pottery. The neutral earth tones of the non-accent walls seen through the mirror's reflection, as well as the room's rich cherry wood door, add warmth to the space.
