PROJECT SUMMARY:

A young couple fell in love with the incredible views from this seaside home and decided to transform the original kitchen, which was a dark relic of the 1960s. They envisioned a kitchen with the classic feel of an East Coast cottage and the sophistication of European spaces

They were on a tight deadline to complete a kitchen remodel that would make the space livable for them and their two young children. The remodel was completed within the existing footprint. The new kitchen is now double the space of the original by employing smart space planning and eliminating the peninsula. Soft, neutral tones give the space an engaging sense of welcome and efficiency. Classic, seamless cabinetry with skillful crown molding details provides an abundance of organized storage. The kitchen's stunning natural surroundings are now central to its welcoming, light-filled design.

The original kitchen and breakfast area was sparsely fitted with old furniture, a worn linoleum floor, and an overall feeling of darkness and unused space.

Natural light now floods the room and the space is dramatically brighter and more open. A bay window seat encourages gazing at the natural surroundings. A soffit elegantly defines the space.

The home has a wonderful connection to the outdoors but it was not maximized in the original design. The interior's outdated and dingy appearance was in stark contrast to the stunning nature just outside.

In the expansive new kitchen, the clean and neutral lines are in harmony with surrounding beauty. Summit Founder's Reserve flooring in a wide plank design underlies the appealing simplicity of the design.

The original kitchen was lost in time with deteriorating linoleum, clunky old cabinets and a use of space that did not make much sense.

The original kitchen was cramped into a corner of the space and didn't allow much room for navigating while cooking and cleaning.

Smart space planning was essential to the overall aesthetics of the new kitchen design. A classic farmhouse sink was chosen with stainless steel for a contemporary attitude. Cabinets with glass doors frame the sink, making it a focal point in the room.

The original cook top was a relic. The new clients love to cook and entertain and needed to significantly upgrade the space and its appliances.

The new cooktop was deliberately selected in a relatively diminutive size. The clients wanted an appliance that felt European and was not at all bulky. The white ceramic subway tile backsplash is a clean, simple design note with classic origins.
