36_7521220_vt57658-136For places in your home set aside for chores, why not brighten daily living with efficient and welcoming space where you enjoy spending time? The design of your laundry room is an important consideration in a whole home remodel. A professional design team can help you visualize a laundry room that will make daily washing and folding a pleasure! Here are some ideas to consider:

Where Would You Like the Laundry Room?
Many modern homes place the laundry room on an upper level, rather than in the more traditional garage or “off-the-kitchen” space, to prevent walking up and down the stairs with hampers full of laundry. If you’re in a single level home, a solution like the hallway laundry area concealed by extra large barn doors (shown above) is an innovative choice that makes the most of limited space.

Organization is essential to an efficient laundry room design. Along with plentiful space for dirty laundry, clean folded laundry and supplies, consider any extra storage capacity you may desire.

How Else Can the Room be Used?
The laundry room in the historic home shown below does double duty as a sewing room. If you have hobbies you’d like to accommodate, maximize your laundry room space to make your work more organized and inspired!

pantry1There’s something truly comforting about the enduring tradition of a kitchen pantry. A roomy pantry in your kitchen design makes for a clutter-free, organized space that is a joy for cooks and those who like to keep things clean and streamlined. Here are some ideas for pantries when you’re considering one for your whole home remodel or kitchen design:

Scale Up
The European-inspired pantry in the modern kitchen shown above is so large, it’s like having an extra “mini-kitchen.” There’s plenty of room for storing dry goods and other ingredients along with small appliances, which keeps the rest of the kitchen clean and neat. With the extra space for food prep, last minute tasks before welcoming guests can be easily accomplished and then simply concealed by sliding the pantry doors closed.

pantry2Add a Pop of Color
In the otherwise subdued palette of this seaside kitchen, this pantry adds a creative surprise of color with a fresh blue that is only revealed when the pantry doors are opened. A pantry is a fun place to experiment with brighter hues before trying them in other areas of your home.

swimpantryIntegrate with Style
The double pantries in this historic Spanish-style home honor the character of the original design while offering modern convenience. Double pantries make it easy for the client, an enthusiastic chef, to organize and access an abundance of ingredients and supplies.

Storage can be stylish when you work with an expert team! When planning your kitchen remodel, remember how much a pantry can add to the functionality and  appeal of the space.

Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute®, said that the 2015 color of the year “Enriches our mind, body and soul, exuding confidence and stability. Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal, while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness.

Pantone LLC is the world-renowned authority on color and provider of color systems and leading technology for the selection and accurate communication of color across a variety of industries. The PANTONE® name is known worldwide as the standard language for color communication from designer to manufacturer to retailer to customer.

Interested in how you could use the Pantone 2015 Color of the Year in your whole home remodel? Marsala is a more natural choice for interiors than some of Pantone’s recent colors of the year, such as Radiant Orchid in 2014 and Tangerine Tango in 2013. It’s an elegant, warm and subtle tone that could be used throughout your living space as a unifying accent color. Marsala could work especially well with accessories such as accent rugs, upholstered furniture and other textured surfaces.

An experienced design team explores the creative options that will make your home stand out from bottom to top with a design uniquely suited to its space. Consider the following concepts for imaginative ceiling design:

Restore Original Beauty
In the Mid-Century Modern home shown above, originally designed by noted architect Dale Naegle, the ceiling was meticulously restored to its authentic grandeur. The paint was freshened between the beams to bring renewed attention to the architecture.

To define the kitchen in this expansive modern home, the ceiling was built in three layers to create a striking architectural element as an interesting design transition between the kitchen and the open living area.

Take Recess
As an inventive alternative to dropped beams or a soffit, a recess with indirect lighting defines the kitchen in the open area of a contemporary home (shown below) while bringing additional light and comfort to the space.
