JDR had five winning regional CotYs that advanced to the finals. JDR's national CotY was awarded in the category of Residential Universal Design (a project utilizing the essential principles of universal design: providing the same means of use for people with diverse abilities, flexibility of use, simple and intuitive design, perceptible information, tolerance for error, low physical effort, and size and space for approachable use. The result is a stunning home, accessible and usable for all). "To have our hard work get recognized on a national level by our peers at NARI is an amazing honor," said Todd Jackson, President and CEO of JDR. "Universal Design is an emerging specialty that is uniquely rewarding because you're not just designing a beautiful space; you're literally changing people's lives. Of all the projects we've done, I know I speak for our entire team in saying that this was truly a special project. Seeing our client's reaction to the finished project, and the impact it will have on his daily life, was one of the most personally rewarding experiences of my career." An impartial panel of judges, who are experts within the industry and associated fields, selected winners based on each entrant's "before and after" photography and project description. Judging was based on problem solving, functionality, aesthetics, craftsmanship, innovation, degree of difficulty and entry presentation. About Jackson Design and Remodeling
