Jackson Design & Remodeling Wins Again, Brings Home Three National Chrysalis Awards

San Diego-Based Remodeling Firm's "Natural Modern" Kitchen and "Daring Style" Bathroom Earn Second Major National Design Awards for 2015

(SAN DIEGO - May 4, 2015) - San Diego-based Jackson Design & Remodeling (JDR) is proud to announce it has won three National Chrysalis Awards for Remodeling Excellence, just after receiving two National Contractor of the Year Awards (CotY) from The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) last week. JDR's three wins came in the competitive "Kitchens" and "Baths" categories: the first in the "Kitchen $75,000 to $100,000" category for a classic, timeless modern kitchen. The second, in the category "Kitchen over $150,000" for a natural modern kitchen - which also won a national CotY award - and the third, and another repeat winner: a colorful master bath retreat which won in the "Bath $75,000 to $100,000" category.

The Chrysalis awards recognize remodeling companies that produce exceptional work: honoring talent, creativity and professionalism. Entries are judged on overall design, the creative use of space and materials, and the degree to which the project enhanced the original structure.

JDR's winning projects include:

Kitchen $75,000-$100,000: Timeless Modern

Alison Green, Interior Designer, Member ASID
Assistant Designer Liz Carter

Timeless Modern

Designed for clients who frequently entertain large groups of family and friends, this kitchen blends modern and classic elements in an open space with a high level of functionality. JDR Interior Designer Alison Green transformed a once dark and overcrowded kitchen into a bright and organized space by removing a wall between the kitchen and family room, creating an expansive, open floor and vastly increasing the natural light and circulation of the space. Previously facing a side yard, the kitchen now leads into the beautiful backyard of the home. Pops of color, including goldenrod fabric on the island stools and a wall of glittering tile, add definition and liveliness to the space. The design's attention to careful streamlining made it possible to contain ample storage, hiding appliances within close reach for preparing meals and hosting events with efficiency and style.

Residential Kitchen over $150,000: Natural Modern

Sol Quintana Wagoner, Senior Interior Designer, Member ASID
Assistant Designer Marisela Contreras
Residential Designer John Kavan

Natural Modern

Designed for a well-traveled couple who wanted a kitchen to reflect their unique lifestyle, this space is anything but ordinary. JDR Senior Designer Sol Quintana Wagoner, Assistant Designer Marisela Contreras and Residential Designer John Kavan worked together to create a kitchen that expresses a refined point of view with an open concept. New windows and glass doors fill the kitchen with light and circulation, creating a calming sense of indoor/outdoor living. One of the most intriguing features in the kitchen is a handmade, live-edge rosewood table. Inspired by a piece of wood the clients discovered, the designers matched wood grains, built iron legs and created a bronze support piece to create this one-of-a-kind element. Throughout the kitchen, rectangles of white and dark colors and open and closed spaces create an intriguing visual duality. The interplay of textures with the clean lines of the open floor plan creates an engaging design for family life and entertaining.

Bath $75,000-$100,000: Daring Style

Sol Quintana Wagoner, Senior Interior Designer, Member ASID
Assistant Designer Marisela Contreras
Residential Designer John Kavan

Daring Style

This bathroom was designed for a young couple who wanted a master bathroom that would work as a luxurious and inspiring space for them while also being a safe and comfortable place for their toddler's bath time. The master bath blends elements of daring modern style with mid-century touches that bring bright energy and character to the space. In a home with an emphasis on bold hues, the clients wanted to stay away from neutrals and embrace the energy of powerful color combinations. A wall of oversized lemon yellow wall tiles and sparkling pendants of textured hand-blown glass accentuate the room's natural light. The freestanding tub and sleek open shower are designed to give the master bath an open concept, while shoji-style doors and frosted glass allow ample light to flow through the room while providing varying levels of privacy for the family to comfortably share this relaxing retreat.

"We are honored to win three national Chrysalis awards this year," said Todd Jackson, President and CEO of Jackson Design and Remodeling.
