INSIPID TO INSPIRING
A LIVING ROOM GETS A MAKEOVER
From the low ceilings with their plastic hanging lights to the uncomfortable-to-walk-on, uneven

tile flooring, the living room of Mike Hanson’s Coronado home was simply unappealing. The bland all-white ceilings, walls and built-in cabinets left the room without personality and four- foot-tall shelves blocked a wide walkway between the hall and the living room.

In the new living room, created by Jackson Design and Remodeling,
sunlight splashes in through a set of
French doors with glass side panels. “A portion of the ceiling is vaulted to create visual interest and contribute to a feeling of openness,” says Todd Jackson. The dark wood of the vaulted ceiling works well with the dark tone of the cabinetry and the furniture flows with clean, simple lines and minimal patterns.
