"Old-World kitchen in a modern setting" By Tatiana Machado Rosas / Special to the U-T
The open space of this kitchen in a 4S Ranch home is connected to a living area, and it was in need of a visual anchor. That was achieved with inspiration from the abundance of stacked stone on the outside of the home.
Using similar stone in the kitchen, master craftsmen hand-placed each stone to create a substantial wall area that frames the refrigerator and ovens. The stonework dramatically conveys the Old World Tuscan authenticity the clients desired.
The main focus was to create an environment with plenty of room for cooking and entertaining with friends and family. An impressive Mascarilla granite island welcomes family and friends with plenty of space to sit or participate in cooking adventures.
Cabinets were stained with a dark cherry finish, adding rich texture and balance to the room. A dining table offers more space for entertaining and visiting.
The style and design of the kitchen flows into the living area and adjoining rooms. New storage was added throughout the kitchen, making tasks easier and eliminating clutter.
