Project Summary

The owner of a large home with expansive grounds wanted to dramatically change her outdoor space to welcome large groups of friends and family for frequent festive occasions. The homeowner has Sicilian roots and is committed to community involvement, loves to host large fundraisers and celebrations, and derives great joy from gardening. She decided to remove the tennis courts on her property and use the space to expand.

After the significant challenge of removing clay tennis courts to get to the soil, the new outdoor area now integrates a main kitchen along with a wine tasting room, a catering kitchen, his and her bathrooms, an outdoor kitchen, shaded outdoor areas, a greenhouse, a garden and fruit trees, and other amenities, all designed with the spirit of a Sicilian villa. The outdoor living space graciously integrates with the main home and with its surrounding neighborhood, encompassing all the elements of its grand scale with harmonious flow. The space provides a sense of open expansiveness during large events while also feeling private and serene during quiet times. The outdoor living space feels as if it has always belonged with the home and the client loves the way the space communicates her heritage and her lifestyle.
