2024 Trend Watch: Staycation Style

With the long weekend ahead of us we’re thinking about the 2024 trend our designers reported on in their annual prediction roundup – “Staycation Style.” Inspired by homeowners’ desires to create the feeling of a 5-star resort at home, this trend shows up in expansive outdoor living areas, lushly appointed primary bedrooms, and spa-like bathrooms. It’s all about spaces designed for calm and wellness with luxurious materials, natural light, and an emphasis on comfort. Here are some of our favorite examples of the staycation trend.

Outdoor Living Oasis
For a couple who loves to entertain and spend time together as a family, this home is located on over two acres with stunning views of rolling hills reminiscent of Tuscany. Seating areas and several spaces for games now provide luxurious relaxation inside the cabana, while the outdoor space includes a pool, a ping pong table, a jacuzzi, and a full kitchen, encompassing the joys of indoor/outdoor living. Unified and welcoming, this resort-inspired retreat dramatically embraces the relationship between the home and its breathtaking surroundings.

Mid-Century Luxurious Retreat
This extensive whole home remodel for a couple and their young children was designed as a “forever” home, an inviting retreat to welcome family and friends for years to come. Indoor/outdoor living is emphasized with large glass doors and windows. Each bedroom in the large home has an ensuite bathroom, and each is designed with its own unique character. This warm and welcoming primary bedroom beckons for long lazy mornings by the fireplace with a view of the beautiful backyard and pool.

Tranquil Minimalist Spa
This artistic master bathroom is like walking into a sumptuous spa in your own home. Designed as part of a contemporary coastal home remodel, the bathroom emphasizes soft light and airiness with warm and white surfaces. Calming order and natural light invite self care and relaxation. The clients can choose between a luxurious tub or shower. Translucent windows let just the right kind of light in, creating a sense of softness and relaxation. The lush tub sits like a piece of art on an organic frame of tile designed on the floor.

When a home remodel is thoughtfully planned for luxurious comfort, staying home during long weekends and mini-vacations is a joy. Inside and outside, think about how your home could feel like a calm and welcoming sanctuary. Our architects and designers can help guide your vision and develop innovative solutions to bring your vision to life.
