Small Spaces That Make a Big Impression: Make Small Spaces Shine in Your Whole Home Remodel
When planning a whole home remodel there may be instances when you want to change a room dramatically but need to work within the room’s existing space or “footprint.” An experienced professional design team guides you toward choices that create visually stunning environments, no matter the space available. We recently designed a tiny powder room as part of a whole home remodel. Here are some of the design principles we used to achieve a distinctive, memorable design in a small space:
Use imagination and creativity to solve design challenges: The powder room had a very low ceiling. Removing the original wainscoting and replacing it with rich, gleaming mosaic tile created the illusion of more space and a taller ceiling.
Play with color and patterns for visual interest: The majority of the small room was designed with warm neutral tones. Against this subtle backdrop, the vibrant vessel sink with a Spanish-influenced design is an exciting note of color. Mosaic tiles on the walls and a tile liner above the floor balance the room and give visitors an impression of depth.
Balance simplicity with luxury: While the room is alive with sumptuous materials and interesting notes of color, the design is kept clean and simple to let each element shine in a small environment.
Working one-on-one with a professional designer, you can achieve design that expresses your personal style, whatever the size of the room!
